Argentina Rugby Shirts
The Argentinean Rugby team also known as Los Pumas, are currently the leading team in the Americas and are rightfully referred to as one of the top teams in the world. Rugby was first introduced to Argentina in 1873 by the British and their first competitive match was played in 1910 against a team from the British Isles who were on tour. Since then, they have developed a rich history, playing in every Rugby World Cup since the first game in 1987. To add to this impressive record, they have beaten France twice and as of March 2008 are ranked 3rd in the world.
However, the Argentinean Rugby team is the only international team that does not compete in regular competitions such as the six and Tri nations, partly as Rugby is still considered an amateur game in Argentina. But their eventual admission to the Tri nations is currently being debated and is likely to happen, although not in the near future. However, they have been included in the six-nation Barclays Churchill Cup line-up in North America this summer.

Although Rugby plays second fiddle to Football in Argentina, the impressive results of the Argentina Rugby Team have helped to grow popularity for rugby in Argentina. However, due to this setup, many of Argentina’s top players can be found playing professional in England and France.
Team Jersey:
The Argentina Rugby shirt is the same colors as their national flag, sky blue and white and carries the emblem of a jaguar. Why then are they called Los Pumas, the Pumas? This arose from a mistake made by journalists who were looking for a catchy name to rival others such as the All Blacks and the Springbocks. When Western journalists first saw the Argentina Rugby shirt, they mistakenly took the jaguar for a puma and the name was borne. The shirt is made by Adidas and therefore has their logo, as well as that of Visa, the team sponsor.
Team Record:
Argentina’s rich rugby heritage is backed up by an impressive 59.63% Test match win record. However, they are yet to win a major competition despite some epic performances. Argentina dropped to their lowest ranking of all time – ninth – in 2006 but since then have climbed the rankings steadily. Defeating third placed France in 2007 moved them to fourth in the rankings and the following year they again beat France establishing themselves firmly as third in the rankings, behind South Africa and New Zealand.
