New Zealand Rugby Shirts

The New Zealand international rugby team, nicked named the all blacks, are one of if not the most feared rugby sides to date. With an impressive win record of 74%, accompanied by the intimidating traditional Maori Haka, they have proved themselves to be a formidable opponent for any team within the sport time and time again. Although the record which they hold is undoubtedly one of the best in the sport it does not show the whole picture, with the all blacks consistently managing to miss out in tournaments when it matters at the dismay of their fans. New Zealand’s world cup record is also something to take note of despite only a single win in 1987, with them being the only team to have made the semi-finals of every world cup until their quarter final knock out at the hands of host nation France in the 2007 tournament.

With their first international in 1884, played in New South Wales against Cumberland County, the all blacks proceeded to begin their journey of transformation from newbie to the dominating force we see today with a test win over rivals South Africa in 1956. Less than ten years later, between 1965 and 1970 they we’re at it again, with their longest ever winning streak winning with a total of 17 test wins. In 1971 however this form came to an abrupt end, with the British and Irish Lions gaining their first and only ever series win over New Zealand. They swiftly recovered, as the Rugby world found out just even years later, as they won a grand slam win over England, Scotland and Ireland. There has always been a strong rivalry between South Africa, the springboks as they are affectionately know, and New Zealand with a home win in 1987 as well as their first series win in front of a South African crowd.

New Zealand don’t have a home stadium to play their international matches, as like the other teams in the tri-nations they opt for a system of rotating the location of games throughout the country. Grounds that the all blacks have hosted matches at have included North Harbour Stadium in Albany, Eden Park in Auckland, Westpac Stadium in Wellington, Waikato Stadium in Hamilton, AMI Stadium in Christchurch and Carisbrook in Dunedin. The team traditionally play in all black colours, with their shorts, jersey and socks being in this colour. Their jersey has remained mostly unchanged throughout the years and bears the emblem of the New Zealand rugby team, the silver fern.

Team Jersey

The current Jersey worn by the all blacks is manufactured by Germany sportswear label Adidas, and is made with their patented ClimaCool performance technology making this jersey on the of strongest and lightest replica shirts ever produced. Along both sides of the jersey itself there are mesh panels designed to allow the shirt to breath, ensuring only the highest levels of temperature management.  Designers of this shirt Adidas, have managed to reduce its weight in comparison to that of its predecessor by as much as 45% allowing the wearing increased mobility whilst reducing any irritation or chafing.

Team Record

The all blacks have one of the best head to head records of any team in the sports, with them winning 74% of their matches and losing only 21% since the sports record began. Notably, the team have racked the majority of these wins up against some of the sports leading opponents, including South Africa, England and France. The complete test match record of New Zealand’s rugby union side can be seen below, in order of the number of matches played.
