Scotland Rugby Shirts
Rugby in Scotland dates back to 1871 and they played England in their first international match, beating them. Scotland has a proud Rugby history and makes up a quarter of the British Lions Rugby Team. Scotland has competed in every Five Nations since it began in 1883, winning it 14 times and sharing it eight times. However, since the competition expanded and included Italy – the sixth nation – Scotland has yet to be crowned Six Nations champions. The Scottish National Rugby Team have also competed in all five Rugby World Cups since it began and are currently ranked 10th in the world rankings.
Scotland has a fierce rivalry with its neighbor England and this really manifests itself on the rugby pitch. Both England and Scotland compete annually for the Calcutta Cup, a fixture which is played as part of the Six Nations competition. Scotland stunned the whole of the rugby world at the 2008 Six Nations where they defeated England by a convincing 15 points to nine. Scotland had reason to feel particularly proud, as they had beaten England in the Calcutta Cup only four times since 1990.

Team Jersey:
The Scottish Rugby shirt is navy blue and traditionally featured the logo of their famous sponsor, Famous Grouse Whiskey and the logo of Canterbury, the kit makers. In 1998, the colour purple, derived from Scotland’s famous thistle flower, was added to the Scottish rugby strip. In 2007, the main Scottish Rugby shirt sponsor changed and the Scottish Rugby shirt no longer bore the emblam of Famous Grouse Whiskey. However, in true Scottish style, Famous Grouse have remained involved with rugby union by being the Scottish national team’s main spirit sponsor. After all, the Scots do enjoy a wee dram.
Team Record:
Despite a proud Rugby history, the Scottish national team has in fact lost more games than it has won. They have played a total of 578 games, winning 42.21% and loosing 52.25% of them. Despite this mixed record, the national squad has enjoyed success and their notable achievements include 3 Five Nation Championships, including being the last team to win the competition before it was expanded to be the Six Nations and seven times Triple Crown winners. To further cement their place on the international stage, Scotland has taken part in every World Cup since it began in 1987 and their best finish was fourth in 1991. They scored their largest number of points, 100, against Japan in 2004 and their heaviest defeat was by 74 points against the Barbarians in 2006.
