Team Jersey and History:
The USA Rugby shirt is predominantly red with black vertical stripes and small white stripes on the shoulders. The Eagles logo has remained unchanged and is positioned on the right hand side of the shirt like most traditional rugby shirts. Rugby as a sport and the shirt within the US dates back to 1870 and was introduced by English soldiers. The first club was built in as early as 1872 with the first record match been played in 1974 between two universities. Over the next 50 years the sport swept the country until the two Olympic wins in the 1920’s.
The Eagles at present
Rugby is currently experiencing huge growth with the US 60,000 plus players currently been registered. Over a third of these players are from within the US school or college system. With the addition of a new competition named the Rugby Super League and entrance to the IRB 7s USA rugby is in a good position to enter the professional arena.
